I presume there are size and speed restrictions? What recommendations can anyone give me for the SSD given my model. Samsung M9T 2TB 9.5mm SATA 2.5 inch Internal Hard Drive :Īm I right in thinking both of these are suitable? Is the price about right? The Samsung HDD is a SATA III but is the right size and I believe this to be backwards compatible with SATA II. My research has led to me to believe that the following RAM and HDD would be suitable but I'm struggling on the SSD.Ĭrucial RAM memory upgrades 8GB kit (4GBx2) DDR 1066MHz : I believe there's still plenty of life in my machine but I think I need to do some work on it!! I'm debating increasing the RAM to 8gb (I've read a lot of forums that say I can go to 16gb but I've also read a lot that says they had problems when they did), increasing the HDD to 2tb and replacing the optical drive with a 256gb SSD to run the OS and key apps. I upgraded the measly HDD to 500gb a couple of years ago but I'm now finding the machine to be rather sluggish when accessing data and opening apps plus I'm not too far off the capacity of the HDD (which I'm sure is causing some of the problems).

I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro 13" 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 4gb RAM and running OS X Mavericks. I've spent of the weekend researching this bit can't find a definitive answer so looking for a collective response if anyone has the time or inclination to respond!!
